Good News: Borussia Dortmund Chief Kehl Confirms Re-signing of Jadon Sancho from Manchester United

Dortmund, August 3, 2025 — Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has officially confirmed that winger Jadon Sancho is returning to the club, marking a dramatic and emotional homecoming for the English star after a turbulent spell at Manchester United.

Sancho, 25, will rejoin the Bundesliga giants on a long-term deal after Dortmund reached an agreement with Manchester United, reportedly worth around €35 million. The move ends a protracted saga that saw Sancho spend the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund, where he impressed with his performances and reignited his form.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday morning, Kehl said, “We are absolutely delighted to bring Jadon back to Dortmund on a permanent basis. He is a player who knows this club, understands our values, and has shown once again what he can do in our colors. His quality on the pitch and connection with our fans made it clear that this move was the right one for everyone involved.”

Sancho first joined Dortmund in 2017 from Manchester City’s youth setup and quickly became one of Europe’s most exciting young talents. In 137 appearances during his first spell at the club, he scored 50 goals and provided 64 assists. His electric pace, creativity, and flair made him a fan favorite and a standout in the Bundesliga.

After making a big-money switch to Manchester United in 2021, Sancho struggled to find consistent form. Despite glimpses of brilliance, his time at Old Trafford was marred by limited playing time, injuries, and a well-publicized fallout with the club’s management, leading to his eventual loan return to Dortmund in January 2025.

The winger looked revitalized upon his return to Signal Iduna Park, contributing to Dortmund’s strong run-in last season, including their impressive Champions League semi-final finish. His return to full form reignited calls from fans and pundits alike for a permanent move — calls the club has now answered.

Sancho, speaking via social media, said, “Dortmund has always felt like home. I’m grateful for the support and excited to give my all again for this badge.”

The deal is seen as a major coup for Dortmund, who are building a strong squad under new manager Nuri Şahin. With Sancho back in black and yellow, hopes are high for a serious title challenge in the upcoming season.
