In a significant move to solidify their coaching framework, the Collingwood Football Club has reaffirmed Hayden Skipworth’s position as Senior Assistant and Midfield Coach for the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. This decision underscores the club’s confidence in Skipworth’s strategic acumen and his pivotal role in shaping the team’s midfield dynamics.Skipworth’s journey with Collingwood began in 2020 when he took on the role of Head of Academy. His dedication and expertise quickly became evident, leading to his promotion to a line coach position in October 2020. By the 2024 season, Skipworth had ascended to the role of Senior Assistant and Midfield Coach, a position he has now been confirmed to continue in for the upcoming season. Reflecting on his coaching trajectory, Skipworth’s early career laid a strong foundation for his current success. Born on February 25, 1983, he commenced his professional playing career with the Adelaide Football Club in 2001, participating in 44 games and scoring 22 goals over six seasons. In 2009, he joined the Essendon Football Club, adding 11 games and 11 goals to his AFL career tally. Beyond his playing days, Skipworth transitioned into coaching, serving as Essendon’s midfield coach until the conclusion of the 2019 season.
