Western Bulldogs and Coach Luke Beveridge Announce Two-Year Contract Extension
MELBOURNE – The Western Bulldogs Football Club is thrilled to announce that senior coach Luke Beveridge has officially signed a two-year contract extension, committing his future to the club until the end of the 2027 AFL season. The news brings an end to months of speculation surrounding the future of the premiership-winning coach.
The agreement solidifies Beveridge’s tenure at the helm of the Bulldogs, a position he has held since 2015. His extension comes at a pivotal time for the club, providing stability and a clear direction as they look to build on their current campaign and push for sustained success in the coming years.
Club President Kylie Watson-Wheeler expressed her delight at the announcement, stating, “Luke is a once-in-a-generation coach at our Club. His commitment to the Bulldogs is unwavering, and this extension is a testament to the trust, connection, and partnership we have with him. We believe he is the best person to lead us forward and drive sustained success.”
Beveridge, who led the club to its historic 2016 premiership and a Grand Final appearance in 2021, has guided the Bulldogs through a period of significant change and development. Despite a challenging start to the 2025 season with a number of key injuries, the team has shown resilience and a renewed sense of purpose, sparking renewed confidence in Beveridge’s coaching ability.
In a statement, Beveridge said, “I am honoured to renew my commitment to our great Club beyond this year as I endeavour to be the best leader, ambassador, and coach that I can be for our people, our members, and those who support us.” He also added that he never wanted to coach another club, stating his investment in the Bulldogs was total.
The re-signing of Beveridge is seen as a crucial step for the club, with attention now expected to turn to securing the future of other key personnel, including skipper Marcus Bontempelli, who is also out of contract at the end of the season.
The announcement was met with a positive reaction from players and fans, who are eager to see the club continue to build under Beveridge’s leadership. The Bulldogs are now focused on the remainder of the season with renewed confidence and optimism for the future.
