Samu Aghehowa Signs €40m Pre-Contract Agreement with Aston Villa Ahead of Summer Move
Aston Villa have secured the signing of highly-rated FC Porto striker Samu Aghehowa after reaching a €40 million pre-contract agreement ahead of the summer transfer window. Unai Emery moved swiftly to secure the 22-year-old’s signature, fending off interest from Premier League rivals, including Arsenal.
Aghehowa, who has been in sensational form for Porto this season, is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young forwards. His pace, technical ability, and clinical finishing have made him a standout performer in the Primeira Liga. With Villa eager to strengthen their attacking options, Emery acted decisively to ensure the Nigerian-born striker would be part of his squad next season.
Arsenal had been monitoring Aghehowa for months, considering him as a potential long-term replacement for Gabriel Jesus. However, Villa’s quick negotiations and clear project under Emery convinced the striker to choose a move to Villa Park instead.
The deal, which will officially be completed in the summer, is a statement of intent from Villa as they continue to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level. Aghehowa’s arrival is expected to add firepower to their attack, as Emery looks to secure Champions League qualification and challenge for silverware next season.
